USC women blunt late rally and defeat Utah 70-59

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Sadie Edwards scored 24 points, Courtney Jaco and Kristen Simon added 12 each and USC fended off a late rally to defeat Utah 70-59 on Friday night.

Alexis Lloyd scored and added a free throw with 4:32 remaining, her 3-point play stemming Utah's comeback bid as the Trojans (16-5, 4-5 Pac-12) ended the game on an 8-2 run.

Utah (12-8, 4-5) opened the final quarter on a 10-2 run, coming as close as 61-57 when Danielle Rodriguez whipped a pass past two defenders to Joeseta Fatuesi, cutting to the low post for a lay-up.

Malia Nawahine led the Utes with 14 points, Paige Crozon added 12 for her 11th double-digit score in the last 13 games and Emily Potter scored 10 before fouling out.

Temi Fagbenle grabbed 12 rebounds for USC and Simon grabbed the game's last rebound to finish with 10 boards and a double-double.
