District 59 board to decide whether to build or sell

The Elk Grove Township District 59 school board is set to vote Feb. 8 on whether to sell or build on properties the district owns.

The board is considering three options: Renovate the existing administration building on Arlington Heights Road and build a connected one-story professional development center on the neighboring former Wellington banquets site; build a new administration center on the Wellington site and sell the property where the current administration building is; or sell those properties and build on a portion of the old Lively school site.

Officials have been discussing for months what to do with the properties, hosted community listening sessions, and released an online survey to gauge public feedback.
