Sentencing delayed for Illinoisan who plotted terror attack

CHICAGO (AP) - Sentencing has been delayed for a suburban Chicago man who prosecutors say plotted with his cousin to carry out a terrorist attack at an Illinois National Guard base.

Jonas Edmonds was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday afternoon. But a late filing Tuesday moved the hearing to March 14.

Edmonds has pleaded guilty in a plea agreement to conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State group and to making a false statement to law enforcement. He faces a maximum 23-year prison term.

His cousin, Hasan Edmonds, pleaded guilty to similar charges. He was supposed to be sentenced separately. But his sentencing date has also been moved to March 14. So the two will now be sentenced together.

The filings gave no explanations for changing the dates.
