Bazoer scores early goal to give Ajax 1-0 win over Arnhem
AMSTERDAM (AP) - Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer scored in the first minute as Ajax beat Vitesse Arnhem 1-0 to stay top of the Dutch Eredivisie. Defending champion PSV Eindhoven beat struggling FC Twente 4-2 on Sunday to stay second.
Bazoer, who was the target of racist chants last week at ADO The Hague, scored after just 26 seconds Saturday, Ajax's fastest goal since Nikos Machlas struck against Groningen in the 17th second on March 11, 2001.
Bazoer told Dutch broadcaster NOS he has moved on from the events in The Hague and "just want to be important for the team with assists and goals."
In Eindhoven, PSV came back from conceding an early goal to overpower Twente 4-2. Third placed Feyenoord lost 4-2 at AZ Alkmaar to fall 11 points behind Ajax.
