Naperville man appointed to lead state agency

The department that oversees state operations has a newly appointed director from Naperville, the governor announced on Friday.

Gov. Bruce Rauner appointed Mike Hoffman, a Naperville resident who served as chief operating officer for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, as director of Central Management Services. Hoffman previously served for 15 years in the Marine Corps.

Hoffman replaces Tom Tyrrell, who left state government earlier this month.

In addition, Emily Bastedo, a public finance lawyer and Elmhurst resident, was named as first lady Diane Rauner's chief of staff. Bastedo is currently an associate counsel for the governor's office, serving as the legal liaison for the Governor's Office of Management and Budget and the Capital Development Board.

Sara Wojcicki Jimenez resigned the post in November after being appointed state representative, replacing Rep. Raymond Poe.
