MLB hitting coach to host camp at Triple Play Academy in Antioch

Major-league baseball hitting coach John Mallee is coming to Triple Play Academy in Antioch for a three-hour camp.

The Jan. 23 event will include Mallee's hitting philosophy of "the six absolutes," as well as feature hitting drills used at major and minor league levels.

In addition, Mallee will use video analysis he employs with major league hitters, and personally analyze swings of people who sign up for the camp.

Each camper will have their bat speed, hand speed and exit velocity measured by Mallee using the Zepp baseball analyzer.

"We are honored to have MLB hitting coach John Mallee present his six absolutes of hitting for our customers," said Mark McQuade, owner of Triple Play Academy.

"I think players who attend the camp will walk away with a better understanding of hitting due to John."

Mallee has coached professional baseball for more than 20 years at every level of baseball. He is currently serving his fifth year as a hitting coach in the major leagues.

He has coached more than 100 players who have played in the major leagues, including 2014 American League batting champion Jose Altuve.

The cost of the camp is $179 for the three-hour session. The camp will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Triple Play, 22221 W. Route 173 in Antioch.
