Two Naperville convenience stores robbed within 20 minutes

Naperville police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within 20 minutes of each other early Monday morning.

Cmdr. Jason Arres said officers first responded to an armed robbery call at 3:55 a.m. at a convenience store on the 300 block of East Bailey Road.

Twenty minutes later, while still investigating the first robbery, officers were called to another convenience store on the 1400 block of East Chicago Avenue, Arres said.

In both robberies, the suspect, described as a white man wearing a dark hat, coat and pants, displayed a dark-colored weapon. Witnesses of the second armed robbery described it as a black handgun.

Arres said police are confident the robberies were committed by the same man.

Anyone with information regarding the cases is encouraged to call police at (630) 420-6666.
