No COD quorum again; trustees plead to state board

For the third straight time, three College of DuPage trustees were no-shows on a meeting night. Two of the trustees — Dianne McGuire and Erin Birt — also wrote the chairman of the Illinois Community College Board to say they think he will have to fill the seventh trustee position because the evenly divided COD board will not be able to agree on a candidate. Supporters learn more of effort to save St. Alphonsus School

Supporters of St. Alphonsus Liguori School in Prospect Heights got some clarifications last night on efforts to prevent its closing in June. Though the school raised $332,000 in pledges over Christmas break to exceed the original $300,000 goal, the Archdiocese of Chicago later said $400,000 was needed for St. Alphonsus to meet its financial obligations for another school year. Aurora police seek help finding vandals

Vandals in Aurora have used BB guns to cause more than $6,000 in damage, and police are asking for the public's help in catching them. Since the beginning of the year, police have responded to 15 separate incidents in which buildings or vehicles on the city's near east or near west sides have been damaged by BBs or pellets, police said in a release. Lockers at Arlington Heights gyms targeted

Arlington Heights police are investigating several thefts from lockers at both the village's XSport facilities. One theft occurred between 9:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Dec. 8. Someone entered the men's locker room and removed a lock from a locker, taking wallet and car keys. Full story.

All eastbound lanes of I-88 shut down during rush hour

All lanes of Interstate 88 are now open after a crash involving a semitrailer truck towing another semi, a landscaping truck and two passenger vehicles, Illinois State Police said. Injuries that were not life-threatening were reported in the crash, which happened about 4:20 p.m. west of the I-355 underpass at mile marker 130.7, police said. Full story.

Woman accused in false manhunt can't cite Gliniewicz case

The defense attorney for a Vernon Hills woman accused of setting off a false manhunt for two men accused of killing Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was denied an attempt to obtain the complete investigation surrounding the Fox Lake officer's death. Full story.
