Eastern Illinois, Bradley add hoverboard restrictions

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Add Eastern Illinois University and Bradley University to the growing list of colleges and universities restricting hoverboard use because of concerns about fire danger.

Bradley told students on Thursday that they will not be allowed to bring the two-wheeled scooters into the private Peoria university's residence halls, fraternity and sorority houses and a campus apartment complex.

Similarly, Eastern Illinois University in Charleston on Thursday said students will not be able to bring hoverboards into residence halls.

The University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and some other universities in the state have adopted their own restrictions following reports that hoverboard batteries sometimes catch on fire. Other schools around the country have done the same.
