Rangers agree to $3.1M deal with RHP Tom Wilhelmsen

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms on a $3.1 million contract with right-hander Tom Wilhelmsen to avoid salary arbitration.

Wilhelmsen's deal was announced Wednesday, when the Rangers also signed infielder Pedro Ciriaco to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Texas acquired Wilhelmsen from Seattle in a trade on Nov. 16. He was 2-2 with 13 saves and a 3.19 ERA in 53 appearances for the Mariners last season.

Six Rangers are still eligible for salary arbitration: catcher Robinson Chirinos, left-hander Jake Diekman, first baseman Mitch Moreland, infielder Jurickson Profar, and right-handers Tanner Scheppers and Shawn Tolleson.

Ciriaco played 84 games and started all four infield positions for Atlanta last season. He had at least 25 starts at third base, shortstop and second base.
