Antioch theater auditioning for musical comedy

The community-based PM&L Theatre in downtown Antioch will be holding auditions for performances of "The People Vs. Friar Laurence: The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet."

Six men and three women are being sought to play a variety of roles, including Friar Laurence, Prince Escalus, Romeo, Mercutio, Gregory, Lord Capulet, Juliet and Lady Capulet, among others, in the musical comedy. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, improvising, and learning a song from the musical. For an upcoming schedule of auditions, check the theater's website, www.pmltheatre.com.

Rehearsals will begin on Feb. 8. Performance dates will be Fridays and Saturdays, April 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16, and Sundays, April 3, 10 and 17. Auditioning actors under the age of 18 need to have a parent present.
