Elgin library marks Mozart's birthday with chamber music and cake

Music filled the air Sunday as people filled the aisles of the Gail Borden Public Library's Rakow Branch in Elgin while the Thesix Chamber Ensemble performed pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in honor of the composer's birthday.

The performance was part of the library's "Music in the Stacks" program.

The library celebrated Mozart's 260th birthday with cake and the diversity and richness of chamber music. Musicians in the sextet, who met while students at Northern Illinois University, presented facts about Mozart and chamber music between music pieces.

The Thesix Chamber Ensemble's mission is to promote the appreciation and education of quality chamber music works to the public. For more on the ensemble, go to www.thesixchamberensemble.org or www.facebook.com/ThesixChamberEnsemble.
