Glenbrook South edges Palatine

Chris Refka, Jovone Stricker and Charlie Van Dyke each scored 13 points but Palatine's boys basketball team cup up short by a bucket in a 73-71 nonconference decision Saturday at Glenbrook South.

Refka and Van Dyke both had four 3s for the Pirates (11-6), who produced a 23-point fourth quarter after being outscored 18-10 in the third.

Jimmy Martinelli scored a game-high 20 points for Glenbrook South (6-8) and Matt Giannakopoulos had 19.

New Trier 59, Buffalo Grove 41: New Trier squared its record at 8-8 while the Bison slipped to 6-9 after a nonconference matchup in Winnetka.
