More charges filed in Lafayette double homicide
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Additional charges have been filed against two Lafayette men charged in a robbery and shooting that left two men dead last year.
A court hearing was held Friday for Jacob Guffey of Delphi and Matthew Oertel of Lafayette. They've been charged in the August killings of 36-year-old Aaron Hunter Jr. and 46-year-old Terry Smith Jr. Police say Hunter and Smith were found with gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence and later died. Each man faces charges including murder and robbery while armed with a deadly weapon.
Online records show the new charges include felony auto theft for Guffey. Oertel's new charges include firearm possession by a violent felon.
Guffey's trial date has been set for August.
Oertel's is scheduled for September.
