Titans interview 2 more candidates in search for new GM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans have interviewed Giants executive Marc Ross and former Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist in their search for a new general manager.

The Titans confirmed they completed interviews with both men Thursday.

Ross is in his third season as vice president of player evaluation for the Giants after joining that franchise in May 2007 originally as director of college scouting. A wide receiver at Princeton, Ross started as a public relations intern during training camp for the Giants in 1995 and also worked in the athletics department at Columbia before joining the Eagles' personnel department in 1996. He also worked for Buffalo as a national college scout.

Sundquist was general manager of the Broncos between 2002 and 2008 but hasn't worked in the NFL since then. He started as a personnel assistant with Denver in 1992 before becoming a pro scout in 1994. He was Denver's director of college scouting between 1995 and 2002. Sundquist played football at Air Force.

The Houston native hasn't worked in the NFL since 2008, but Sundquist has interviewed with teams.

The Titans started the search for a new general manager Wednesday, interviewing Martin Mayhew, who was executive vice president of football operations and general manager with the Lions from 2008 until he was fired in November.

Also, a person with direct knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press that Jacksonville gave the Titans permission to interview Chris Polian, the Jaguars director of player personnel and general manager with the Colts between 2009 and 2011. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the Jaguars nor the Titans have commented publicly on the request.

Polian's brother, Dennis, is assistant director of football administration and pro scout with the Titans.

Tennessee fired Ruston Webster on Monday after the Titans went 5-27 over the past two seasons. The Titans also need a new coach after firing Ken Whisenhunt on Nov. 3.
