Cities and towns may share services by collaborating or consolidating efforts. We know this effort has saved DuPage taxpayers more than $100 million. I support this model, known as ACT, or Accountability, Consolidation and Transparency. I'd use my time and connections to learn about the needs of local agencies and governments, then find out where our services overlap and see if savings could be realized for both the county and the local agency by working together in these areas. What would you like to see happen to the county fairgrounds in Wheaton? Should the DuPage County Fair be moved? Why or why not?Again, the uncertain funding situation in Springfield provides us the impetus for creativity and innovation. There's no doubt we should celebrate our agricultural history and heritage. I support the Fair Association's recent efforts to update and correct code violations found in its buildings. And I believe the Association is and should be a partner as we explore this question in the future, mindful of the fact that the Fair must be self-sustaining if it is to continue. I believe the Public Works committee heard some interesting ideas that came out of the recent Task Force report. What should the county do to improve transportation throughout DuPage and specifically in your district? The biggest challenge facing DuPage County is what's called the "last mile". In order to transport workers to our businesses, we must make it easier for folks to take a train or bus and then get to their workplace. The County Board's public transit committee should continue its efforts to work with Choose DuPage, chambers of commerce, and RTA in providing solutions to this challenge. DuPage's transportation department does an excellent job, but we are vulnerable to an uncertain funding stream. I would work with the County's legislative delegation to ensure our road funds are received in a timely fashion. How do you rate the county government on transparency and the public's access to records? If you consider it adequate, please explain why. If you think improvements are needed, please describe them and why they are important.I think DuPage County government does an excellent job of allowing the general public access to records online and in responding to requests for information. As part of the ACT Initiative, DuPage County provides a template for transparency. Agendas, documents, minutes and videos from Board meetings are easily available to citizens. County-appointed agencies have been mandated to provide information about their budgets, agendas, minutes and notices on their websites. This allows taxpayers to understand the business, and allows them to make decisions when casting a vote. There is more accountability to citizens - this must continue. Please list any elected office you have ever run for and what the result of that election was. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term?I have never run for elected public office and have not been appointed to fill a vacant elected office. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? The people who've held this job previously, including JR McBride, built bridges and brokered solutions to problems. I believe voters want to elect a person of the highest moral character, dedicated to solving difficult challenges. I provide a fresh voice as well as public experience. I am DuPage-centric and voters can be sure I'm not interested in going to Springfield or Washington, but strive to serve families who make DuPage their home. As a member of the DuPage County Board, I intend to work with our partners and find innovative solutions that provide the high quality service our taxpayers deserve. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Candidate did not respond. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Candidate did not respond. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Candidate did not respond. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Candidate did not respond.
