Is there a particular issue that motivates you? If so, what?The McHenry county Real Estate market is burdened with soaring property taxes. Tax payers shouldn't have to tighten their belts any more; increased government spending needs to stop.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?I am a local Businessman with 30+years of Real Estate and housing Development experience. I have conservative, fiscally responsible values. I aspire to affect a positive change, and bring growth back to the county. I'm running to help reduce taxes.Describe your position regarding the balance between county spending and revenues as it exists today, then describe the chief threats you see looming in the future and how the county should deal with them. In particular in the suburbs, President Preckwinkle has set a goal of eliminating unincorporated areas from county oversight. Do you agree with this approach? If so, how should the county go about it?McHenry County operates on a budget of $240,000,000 (Two Hundred and Fourty Million Dollars). Residents are substaintially supporting the county through sales and Property taxes, while home values are falling behind our neighboring collar counties. We need to improve our business and manufacturing tax base to ease the pressure of the over-taxed home owners. Currently, McHenry County has no direct access to the interstate Highway system. We need to priortize our transportation projects.How do you rate the county government on transparency and the public's access to records? If you consider it adequate, please explain why. If you think improvements are needed, please describe them and why they are important.The county budget and strategic plan is available online at the McHenry County website. All Board meetings are recorded on audio and available online also. The Administration office is very helpful to anyone interested in learning more of the inner workings of the government. I encourage everyone to get involved. Effective Change will only happen with more public input.Please list any elected office you have ever run for and what the result of that election was. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term?I served on the McHenry County Fair board in the late 90's. I enjoyed my time working with all of the volounteers over the years.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Three issues I am most concerned about are:*Taxes, Everyone wants to reduce taxes, yet we keep raising our levies. Government needs to reduce spending, and abate or stop raising tax levies. Every homeowner, and business small and large has reduced spending; government needs to also. * McHenry County access to the Interstate highway system, and * McHenry county Economic develpoment. These issues directly affect each other. If we can take short term and long term steps toward improvement, a healthy economic future will come together.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Warren Buffet, He seems to have it all figured out, he exudes confidence in the world. The Dali Lama impresses me the same way.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Mom and Dad will always support you. They did.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I'm very happy where I am, I look back with very few regrets.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History, I enjoy following people that have changed the world. I find them inspirational.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?They're great people. I think what my wife and I instilled in them is confidence, and to leave this place better than you found it.
