Memphis offensive coordinator to join Fuente at Va. Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente has announced that Brad Cornelsen will join his staff as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Cornelsen served in the same capacity under Fuente at Memphis the past four seasons. Under Cornelsen, the Tigers ended the 2015 regular season ranked seventh nationally in scoring, fifth in passing efficiency, 13th in total offense and 14th in fewest turnovers committed.

Before moving to Memphis, Cornelsen was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Division II Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. He also has coached at Oklahoma State and Illinois State.

Virginia Tech hired Fuente in November to succeed the retiring Frank Beamer.
