Kentucky hires Gran, Hinshaw as offensive assistant coaches

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has announced the hiring of former Cincinnati assistants Eddie Gran and Darin Hinshaw to run the Wildcats' offense.

Gran, a 28-year veteran, will be Kentucky's offensive coordinator and running backs coach after spending the past three seasons in a similar capacity with the Bearcats. Cincinnati gained a school-record 6,992 yards this season and ranked seventh nationally at 537.8 per game through Saturday.

Gran, who replaces Shannon Dawson as offensive coordinator, previously worked with Stoops at Florida State as associate head coach overseeing the Seminoles' backs and special teams.

Hinshaw will be Kentucky's co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after guiding Cincinnati's QBs since 2013. The former Central Florida quarterback previously coached three years at Tennessee, including 2012 as the Volunteers' recruiting coordinator.
