Mundelein American Legion Auxiliary Unit wins award

State Rep. Ed Sullivan and AT&T have presented Mundelein American Legion Auxiliary Unit 867 with a $2,000 "Investing in Illinois Award" to send aspiring high school girls to this summer's Illini Girls State Program. Each year, the American Legion Auxiliary sends young women from across Illinois to take part in a statewide conference to give attendee's a firsthand experience in the governmental process. Finalists from the state conference have the opportunity to attend a national conference. American Legion Auxiliary Illini Girls State is a week long program dedicated to providing training for young women in city, county, and state government. They are placed into a two-party system and will run for office, campaign, vote, and write legislation pertinent to Illini Girls State, as well as the state and nation.
