Bartlett library hosts Winter Family Singalong

The Bartlett Public Library District hosted a Winter Family Singalong on Saturday, Dec. 19. Children, as well as their guardians, were able to sing and follow along to well-known Christmas carols.

The program was put on by Bartlett Librarian Katie Smith and her husband David Smith. A total of 80 attendees were present, 35 children and 45 adults.

To begin the program, the group warmed up their vocal chords by singing the song S-A-N-T-A, which was a version of the well-known B-I-N-G-O song. Rhythm instruments were also passed out to the children so they could shake the instruments during the songs.

From there, some of the other songs were "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Jingle Bells," "Up On The Housetop," "Frosty The Snowman" and more.

Library patron Montu Shah was there with his two daughters.

"Bringing my kids to the programs (at the Bartlett library) gives my daughters an understanding of community," Shah said. "The kids love it. We've lived here for about eight years and have been regular patrons since."

Kim Tazbier and her daughter Mackenzie were also present at the program, and both enjoyed themselves.

"I bring my daughter to the library about every other week, it's a great place. I come here to get my daughter exposed to all kinds of books," Tazbier said. "She enjoys coming to the library so much. It's just a great environment."

The next big program the Bartlett library is putting on is the Preschool & Daycare Fair on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m.-noon. This program is a great opportunity for families to meet local preschool and day care providers.
