Another sweet victory for Rolling Meadows at Leyden

Rolling Meadows' boys swimming team took top honors in Saturday's Leyden Invitational, finishing with 281 points. West Chicago was second at 158.

It's the third straight year the Mustangs have won the meet - and, as tradition dictates, the third straight year they've savored the outcome over post-meet milkshakes.

Key performers included Josh Dellorto, a winner in both the 200-yard free (1:49.79) and the 100 backstroke (55.24). Dellorto teamed with Filip Pancerz for a 1-2 finish in the backstroke.

Other key finishes included a third-place effort from Jake Pors in the 100 breast (1:07.95) and a third-place finish from Andrew Tavares in the 100 fly (1:00.28).

Three seniors from last year's team, just back in the area from their college campuses for the holiday break, shared in the achievement as Tony Sarussi, Ryan Smith and Evan Meyer presented this year's edition of Rolling Meadows swimming with the winning hardware.

"Having those guys show up just made it a very special day for our team," said Rolling Meadows coach Monika Chiappetta.
