Indianapolis police say officers shot man armed with knife

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police in Indianapolis say officers have shot and killed a man armed with a knife.

Police said 25-year-old Christopher Goodlow was shot just before noon Saturday on the city's northeast side.

Police spokesman Richard Riddle told reporters that a group of at least four officers ordered the man to drop the knife but had to resort to lethal force when he refused and continued to approach them.

The officers will be put on paid administrative leave during an internal investigation to determine whether any department policies were violated.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1OYWe4z ) that video recorded by a bystander shows the man lunging at an officer just before he is shot.

The bystander, Steven Chambers, says officers had also tried tackling him and using a stun gun before shooting him.
