Beat the boredom with Winter Break Camps

Schaumburg Park District Winter Break Camps will keep children entertained faster than they can say, "I'm booored!"

From all-day camps boasting a variety of sports, games, crafts and field trips, to Lego-themed programs engaging young minds, there are plenty of options to keep children busy when school's out for winter break.

"Winter break camp provides a safe and fun environment for children while Mom and Dad are at work," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Neighborhood Center manager and general program supervisor.

Upcoming Winter Break Camps include:

• Way Fun Winter Break Camp: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Dec. 21-30, Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way. Kids ages 6-12 register for the entire camp or individual days.

• Chess Scholars Winter Break Chess Camp: 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 28-30, Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane. For ages 5-12.

• Girl Power Master Engineering with Lego Mini Camp: 1-4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29, CRC, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. For ages 7-12.

• Girl Power Pre-Engineering with Lego Mini Camp: 9 a.m.-noon Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29, CRC. For ages 5-6.

• Jedi Engineering with Lego Mini-Camp, 9 a.m.-noon Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21-22, CRC. For ages 5-6.

• Master Jedi Engineering with Lego Mini-Camp: 1-4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21-22, CRC. For ages 7-12.

• Lego Mindstorms Invasion of the Robots Mini-Camp: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29, Bock. For ages 9-14.

• Pre-Engineering Winter Break Mini-Camp with Lego Robotics, 10-11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28 and 29, Bock. For ages 6-9.
