Metra rolls out free Wi-Fi at downtown Chicago stations

CHICAGO (AP) - Commuters can now tap into free wireless Internet service at all five of Metra's downtown Chicago rail stations.
The rail service announced Thursday that Wi-Fi hotspots and electric charging outlets have been installed at the stations.
The amenity upgrade came after an academic study earlier this year noted Metra's downtown stations lacked power outlets and Wi-Fi despite a jump in passenger technology use.
The service can be found under "Metra Wi-Fi" on mobile devices. No password is needed.
Metra is also installing Wi-Fi hotspots on one railcar on each of its lines as part of a six-month test program to provide free onboard wireless service.
