Rosemont convention center getting multimillion-dollar renovation

Rosemont is planning a multimillion-dollar upgrade of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, including renovated bathrooms and new paint for ceilings and walls throughout exhibit halls, officials said. The village board this week approved a $80,300 contract with Aria Group Architects to provide design development, construction document and project administration services for the remodeling project. Next month, the board is expected to approve contracts for the construction work, though an exact price tag wasn't yet revealed. The village could use state funds to pay for the upgrades, since it receives $5 million annually to pay for convention center improvements and show incentives. The renovations are expected to be done in 2016.
