The Latest: Adam McKay looking forward to 'bawdy' Globes
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - The latest on the 73rd annual Golden Globes nominations announced Thursday in Beverly Hills, California, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (all times local):
9:50 a.m.
"The Big Short" writer-director Adam McKay has got partying on his mind.
McKay's film received the second most nominations Thursday for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, and his initial celebration was subdued.
McKay says, "I was half-asleep and woke up. I had an egg sandwich. That was my celebration. An egg sandwich."
The writer-director spoke to The Associated Press before leaving on a trip to Chicago, where he planned "a party day over there."
McKay is also looking forward to January 10, when the Golden Globe Awards will be held in Beverly Hills.
He says, "I think any ceremony that has Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy at it is immediately worth attending. I'm quite excited. I think we should all have a raucous, bawdy night. It will make everyone happy."

Golden Globe nominee Bryan Cranston says he sees parallels between his film "Trumbo" and the rhetoric of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Cranston was nominated Thursday for best actor in a drama film for his portrayal of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted in Hollywood for refusing to answer questions about his involvement with the Communist Party.
Cranston sees similarities today and tells The Associated Press, "It's reminiscent of what's going on now about the political or the ideology of some people and the fear mongering - like Donald Trump - who jumps on something and feeds the fire and creates incendiary reaction to things, scares people and they react and that's why poll numbers are going up."
Cranston says "We just need to calm down and go back to what is foundational to this country and that is embracing differences and realizing that that's a strength of ours and not a weakness."

It's like Amy Schumer heard about her Golden Globe nomination from friends.
The comedian watched as one of her friends, America Ferrara read the name of her film, "Trainwreck" Thursday. Then Dennis Quaid, another friend, read her name when announcing the best actress in a film comedy category.
Still in bed, Schumer says that's when she let out a scream and her eyes teared up.
Her first congratulatory text message came from Chris Rock.
Since then, Schumer tells the AP she's only been talking to reporters.
The actress says, "It's funny, I haven't talked to any of my family or friends yet. Just journalists. But yeah. Those are my real family now."

7:45 a.m.
Rachel Bloom says she spent her few sleeping hours dreaming about the Golden Globe nominations.
By Thursday morning, the wait was over. And her dreams of receiving a nomination for her role on CW's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" were a reality.
Bloom worked until midnight on the show and was so tired she didn't take off her makeup or shower. She wasn't sure she would watch the Globe nominations - which occur before dawn in Los Angeles - but her dreams convinced her to tune in.
She says, "My dreams were filled with it so I was like, 'Oh who am I kidding. I'm not going to play it cool.' I've never played anything cool in my entire life."
There's little time for rest for Bloom, who's due back on set later Thursday. For work, and some celebrating.
She tells the AP, "I can't believe it. Seven months ago I thought we had a dead pilot."

Streaming services have edged out traditional television and cable networks for the most nominations for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.
Netflix leads all television creators with eight nominations, aided by its series "Orange Is the New Black" ''House of Cards" and "Narcos."
Amazon Video also picked up five nominations, with several for its shows "Transparent" and "Mozart in the Jungle." Actors Jeffrey Tambor of "Transparent" and Gael GarcÃa Bernal earned acting nominations for their work on the series.
Cable networks HBO and Starz earned seven and six nominations during Thursday's announcement of the Globe nominations.
ABC received the most nominations of the traditional networks, with its show "American Crime" earning three of the network's four nominations.
The Golden Globe Awards will air Jan. 10 on NBC.
