Nonconference wins for Rolling Meadows, Hoffman Estates, St. Viator

Junior guard Kyra Spiwak scored a game-high 26 points and also had 7 assists to help visiting Rolling Meadows past South Elgin 68-53 on Tuesday in a nonconference girls basketball matchup.

The Mustangs (7-3) only held a 2-point lead before getting some breathing room by outscoring the Storm 18-7 in the third quarter.

"I thought our kids played a solid second half," said Rolling Meadows coach Ryan Kirkorsky.

Katherine Nolan had 14 points and Morgan Campagna 13 for the Mustangs.

Kelsey Nallon made a 3 and collected 6 rebounds. Nolan had 5 rebounds, and Campagna grabbed a team-high 10.

"Morgan Campagna and Katherine Nolan were great on both ends of the floor," Kirkorsky said. "Kyra Spiwak really let the game come to her in the second half. Megan King showed senior leadership throughout the game, and Kelsey Nallon gave us a big lift off the bench."

Senior guard Nadia Yang led South Elgin with 16 points, including three 3-pointers.

Rolling Meadows shot 24-for-31 at the foul line and got a 9-for-9 effort from Campagna.

Hoffman Estates 46, Jacobs 44: Junior guard Monraia Wilson scored a game-high 18 points to help the visiting Hawks to a nonconference victory.

Wilson canned fourth 3-pointers and went 4-for-4 at the foul line.

The Hawks, who squared their record at 4-4, also got 10 points from Erin Hanson and 7 from Tayler Williams.

Hoffman Estates trailed Jacobs by 3 points entering the fourth quarter. But Wilson had a pair of 3s and made her free throws, and Hanson had a bucket and 2 made foul shots as the Hawks outscored the Golden Eagles 16-11 in the period.

Emily Anderson (15 points) and Teaghan Richman (11) led the way in scoring for Jacobs.

St. Viator 54, Elk Grove 37: St. Viator bounced back from a loss at Buffalo Grove on Monday night and won on the road at Elk Grove on Tuesday.

Sophomore guard Myia Clark scored game-high 19 points and junior center Jenna Breslin added 10 for the Lions (4-5) in the nonconference game.

Breslin also pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds, followed by Sara Malas (4), Clark (3) and Melissa Cortese (3).

Teammates Olivia Solimene and Michaela Mueller each handed out 3 assists and had 2 steals.

Clark had three 3-pointers for the Lions while Maggie Leazer tossed in one.

Sarah Pauscher led Elk Grove (1-7) (with 14 points while Abbey Sloan had 8.
