Carpentersville woman convicted of using teens to rob man lured to home for sex

A 29-year-old Carpentersville woman who pleaded guilty to enlisting two minors to help her rob a man she lured to her apartment for sex was sentenced to 180 days jail and two years probation.

Stephanie Perez, of the 0-99 block of Oakcrest Drive, pleaded guilty to felony robbery. She still could face prison if she violates probation, according to Kane County court records.

Perez convinced two male teens to help her with the Aug. 11 robbery. The man was robbed of his iPhone 6, a pack of cigarettes and a condom, according to court records.

Perez is eligible to have her 180-day sentence cut in half for good behavior. She was released from the Kane County jail late last week after serving 115 days there.

Perez' defense attorney, Liam Dixon, said his client had some health issues while in jail and the plea agreement offer from prosecutors dismissed the most severe charge of armed robbery, a felony that carries a 6- to 30-year prison term with no chance for probation.

"We had an offer to get her out of jail that day and she took it," Dixon said.

If Perez violates her probation, she can be brought back to court and resentenced to anywhere from more probation to up to seven years in prison.

Perez spent five days in jail after an arrest in 2013 for driving while her license was suspended and was eventually sentenced to 300 hours of community service, records show.
