Veterans Conservation Corps announces winter projects

A kiosk and bird houses are the winter projects for the Volunteer Veterans Conservation Corp, which allows veterans to continue serving their country by assisting with and developing projects to enhance state parks and natural areas.

The next sessions are from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 5 and Jan. 16, at the Volo Bog State Natural Area, on Brandenburg Road west of Route 12.

The program is a cooperative effort of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Friends of Volo Bog and Friends of Moraine Hills State Park, with additional support provided by the Veterans Assistance Commission of McHenry County. For information on joining the Volunteer Veterans' Conservation Corps, call (815) 344-1294 or email dnr.volobog@illinois.gov. First timers are welcome.
