Lollipop Lane opens Saturday in Wheeling

Lollipop Lane, a Wheeling tradition since 1973, opens at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, when Santa Claus comes to town. The event, with free rides on the Santa Express train, Santa visits and other activities is at the Chamber Park Church Building, 251 N. Wolf Road.

Lollipop Lane offers families the chance to stroll through decorated trees and view displays of old-fashioned toys. Children can share their holiday lists with Santa and have their photos taken. Homemade holiday cookies and a commemorative ornament will be for sale during the festivities.

Hours for Lollipop Lane are 2 to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 5 and 12, and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 7-11. The Santa Express only operates on Saturdays. The free event is sponsored by the Wheeling Historical Society, Wheeling Park District, Stasek Chevrolet and many Wheeling businesses. Information is at lollipop-lane.org.
