Light up with Holiday House Decorating Contest

The Schaumburg Park District is on the lookout for the merriest and brightest house in Schaumburg.

Residents are invited to enter their homes in the Holiday House Decorating Contest by 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11. Houses will be evaluated for originality, theme, arrangement and overall presentation. Participation is limited to the first 10 entrants.

"The Holiday House Decorating Contest is a great way to show off your holiday decorations," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Center manager and general program supervisor. "This is such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit."

Houses may be decorated any time before Monday, Dec. 14. The first 10 houses entered will be judged. Winners from the previous year are not eligible for the contest, but may enter their homes in the tour. Houses must be within the Schaumburg Park District's boundaries.

Judging will take place during the Holiday House Decorating Contest Tour from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, and Tuesday, Dec. 15. Spaces still are available for the adult-only Dec. 15 tour.

Cost for the tour is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Preregistration will close at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, or when seats are filled. Contest entrants are not eligible to judge, but may join the tour.
