Report: Ex-STP frontman Scott Weiland found dead

Rock frontman Scott Weiland was found dead Thursday on his tour bus in Minnesota, TMZ reports.

The former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Weiland was on tour with his latest band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, TMZ said.

Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane's Addiction, acknowledged the death Thursday night, tweeting, "our friend Scott Weiland has died."

TMZ cites a source that said Weiland was found on the bus shortly before the band was supposed to perform.

The singer famously battled substance abuse for years, but it was not yet known Thursday night what caused his death, TMZ said.
