Judge rules more mental care needed for Teutopolis woman

TUSCOLA, Ill. (AP) - A judge has ruled that a Teutopolis woman must remain under state psychiatric care after she was found not guilty by reason of insanity of accusations she tried to hire someone to kill an ex-boyfriend.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1O3I4KD ) that Douglas County Judge Rick Broch ruled Tuesday that 33-year-old Jennifer Inman isn't ready for the outside world and much remain in a secure mental health setting for at least another six months. The judge made the decision after hearing from mental health experts who evaluated Inman.

Inman can try as frequently as every 180 days to be released.

Inman was arrested in 2013. Prosecutors say she offered a man $10,000 to kill her ex-boyfriend. A Douglas County judge found in 2014 that she couldn't appreciate the criminality of the act.
