Chicago Fire announces contract options

The Chicago Fire announced it has picked up the contract options on homegrown defender Patrick Doody, of Naperville, homegrown midfielder Harry Shipp, of Lake Forest, plus draft picks Matt Polster and Kingsley Bryce.

The Fire has only 13 players on its roster after declining the options on nine players: captain Jeff Larentowicz, Jon Busch, Adailton, Alec Kann, Razvan Cocis, Lovel Palmer, Greg Cochrane, Jason Johnson and homegrown player Chris Ritter of Winnetka. Daneil Cyrus' loan expired, and Mike Magee, Matt Watson and Ty Harden are out of contract.

New coach Veljko Paunovic, hired last week, will meet the media for the first time Thursday morning.
