Kane County crashes that left 3 injured remain under investigation

Kane County authorities continue to investigate a pair of serious crashes near Campton Township that left three people seriously injured over the weekend.

The first took place about 4:30 p.m. Friday, when a 2012 Ford E-150 van driven east on Beith Road by Charles Males, 63, of Norridge, went through a stop sign at Route 47 and struck a 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer traveling south. Males was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The second vehicle's driver, Dana Wynn, 24, of Sycamore, also was taken to Delnor for treatment. No update on either driver's condition was available Sunday.

The second crash took place at about 6:40 a.m. Saturday on Beith Road west of Route 47 in unincorporated Virgil Township.

Kane County sheriff's police said their initial investigation indicates that a semi-tractor was blocking Beith Road as it backed into a driveway at 45W160 Beith Road. A 1992 Lincoln Town Car driven west on Beith by David Abram, 69, of Maple Park, struck the truck.

Abram was flown from the scene to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with potential life-threatening injuries, sheriff's police said. The driver of the truck, Tyutyunnyk Mykhaylo, 41, of Maple Park, was uninjured, as was his passenger.

Kane County sheriff's deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are leading the crash investigations. No tickets have been issued, authorities said Sunday.
