Property tax appeal session for Wheeling Twp. residents

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will be holding a property tax assessment appeal seminar at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2015 property tax assessments.

The seminar is co-hosted by Prospect Heights Mayor Nicholas Helmer and Wheeling Township Assessor Jerry Sadler. The hourlong session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal and address why property taxes go up when the value of your home goes down. Taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.

This event is free. Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill. Appeal forms also may be picked up at the Board of Review's Rolling Meadows office, 2121 Euclid Ave., Room 237, or file an appeal online at www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.
