Car being pursued by police crashes into 2nd car, killing 1

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say a stolen car being chased by an officer collided with another car, killing a passenger in that vehicle.

Police say an officer began the pursuit Tuesday night after noticing a car's license plate didn't match the vehicle, which turned out to be stolen.

They say the officer tried to pull the car over but its driver, 23-year old Kyle Doolin of Indianapolis, sped away, careened through a highway entrance ramp and crashed into a second car, killing a passenger in that vehicle.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the dead passenger as 23-year-old Rudy Hernandez.

Officer Christopher Wilburn tells The Indianapolis Star that Doolin told emergency responders he was under the influence of heroin, methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics.

It wasn't clear whether Doolin has an attorney.
