Habitat for Humanity chapter acquires former school site

PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) - A Habitat for Humanity chapter got some help in acquiring a former southern Indiana school site where it plans to build 24 affordable family homes.

The North Gibson School Corporation couldn't donate the former Baldwin Heights school property to Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County because it's a nonprofit and the 8.5-acre property won't be used for educational purposes.

But the Princeton Daily Clarion reports (http://bit.ly/1PRzwLs ) the school district opted to instead transfer the land to the city of Princeton, which then donated the acreage to the Habitat chapter.

Habitat chapter Executive Director Greg Goodson says the nonprofit thanks the city and the school district "for helping us out and doing this for us."
