Cup of Cheer, a Naperville Holiday Tradition

Cup of Cheer, a Naperville Holiday Tradition

Jim and Kelly Krauss strongly believe in the magic and spirit of Christmas. He is a professional artist and she is a designer. Together they have taken this holiday very seriously for over 25 years. They are the perfect choice as Guest Designers for The Naperville Garden Club Cup of Cheer™ House Walk, Holiday Market and Tea. They will be decorating their home this year as the Garden club expands its reach into the community. Retailers, Little Luxuries and Room 363 are also decorating a home on the Holiday House Walk, that of our new Mayor Steve Chirico and his wife. The Garden Club will decorate the Martin Mitchell House in Naper Settlement circa 1915, and the home of the president of North Central College, Dr. And Mrs. Hammond. The Cup of Cheer House Walk is December 3-4, 2015 from 9-4.

The Naperville Garden Club is steeped in tradition. The Cup of Cheer™ started 55 years ago with its members decorating homes for fellow Naperville residents to view and be inspired. In recent years, the Garden Club has wanted to expand to include designers in the community that could bring new and fresh ideas to Holiday decorating.

The Krauss's are honored to be Guest Designers this year. Through their membership in the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club they became aware of the need for a house to be included on the Holiday House Walk. This has always been a bucket list item for the Krauss's. They love to share their vision of Christmas every year with their Santa collection as the constant. Having the opportunity to be the designers in their own home has been a dream come true.

Co Chairs of the Cup of Cheer™ are Gwenn Lloyd and Diane Greenawalt. When they select homes for the walk, they interview the homeowner, determine if the traffic flow will accommodate large numbers of visitors, evaluate the architectural detail of the home as well as the depth of the current decorating at the home. It is a unique opportunity to be a sponsored house on the Cup of Cheer™ House Walk. Proceeds from the walk benefits the beautification of Naperville, College Scholarships for students in the "Green Industry" and educating members.
