Milwaukee District North train evacuated after fire

Metra passengers were evacuated from Milwaukee District North Line train No. 2149 Tuesday evening after smoke was seen coming from one of the Fox Lake-bound train's four locomotive traction motors, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.

The outbound train was stopped in Morton Grove north of Dempster, Reille said, and the Morton Grove Fire Department was called.

No injuries were reported.

Reile said the next outbound train was expected to push the train the rest of the way to Fox Lake.

She said that while both trains would be delayed, "people will get home."

Train No. 2149 was expected to arrive in Fox Lake at 8:26 p.m.
