Kurt Busch leads last practice before elimination race

AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Kurt Busch paced the final practice session before Sunday's critical playoff race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Busch is one of seven drivers vying for three available slots in next week's title-deciding season finale. Jeff Gordon already has a berth in the final four, and three other drivers will join him after Sunday's race.

Kevin Harvick, winner of four consecutive races at Phoenix and five of the last sixth, was fifth in final practice as the two Stewart-Haas Racing drivers were the best of the title contenders on Saturday.

Martin Truex Jr. was seventh in final practice and Carl Edwards was eighth.

Kyle Busch was 12th and Team Penske continued to struggle. Joey Logano was 13th and Brad Keselowski 16th as the Ford drivers are still looking for speed.
