Raiders activate S Nate Allen from short-term IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders have activated safety Nate Allen from short-term injured reserve list in time for Sunday's game against Minnesota.

The Raiders waived receiver Marcus Thigpen on Saturday to make room on the 53-man roster.

Allen injured his knee in the season opener against Cincinnati. He is expected to start alongside Charles Woodson against the Vikings, with TJ Carrie moving back to cornerback.

The Raiders also re-signed safety Tevin McDonald to the practice squad.
