Favorite storybook characters will come to life when AlphaBet Soup Productions brings "A Christmas Carol in HogPatch Holler!" to College of DuPage's McAninch Arts Center.

With music and lyrics by Mark A. Pence and adapted from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," this family-friendly show will be performed at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for youth. For tickets or information, call (630) 924-4000 or visit atthemac.org.

The story centers on the grumpy Big Bad Wolf, who, like Scrooge, tarnishes the Christmas season with insults and complaints. It is up to Little Red Riding Hood, Henny Penny, Grandma and the Three Little Pigs to change his mind, as they sing and dance their way into the Wolf's heart to help him understand the true meaning of Christmas.

The cast features John Garza of Chicago as the Big Bad Wolf and a five-person ensemble, including Sarah Tilford of Schaumburg, Katie Zutter of Chicago, Katy Jenkins of Chicago, Louis Allen of Chicago and Miki Byrne of Chicago.

The creative team includes Pence, director/set design, and Susan Holm, costume design. Stage manager is Page Domikaitis.

Pence has worked in the Chicago theater community as a writer, director, actor and producer. He co-founded the professional children's theater company, along with Holm. Together, they produce theater for young audiences at locations throughout the Chicago area.
