Vikings place LB Cole on IR, sign veteran Trusnik

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have placed linebacker Audie Cole on injured reserve with a broken right ankle and signed veteran linebacker Jason Trusnik to take his roster spot.

The move was made Tuesday, two days after Cole was hurt in Minnesota's win over St. Louis. Cole started at middle linebacker in place of Eric Kendricks, who missed that game because of a rib injury. The Vikings traded Gerald Hodges, their original starter at the position this season, to San Francisco last month.

Trusnik was among Carolina's final cuts before the regular season began. He went undrafted out of NCAA Division III school Ohio Northern in 2007 and has been with four NFL teams, playing in all 64 games for Miami over the 2011-14 seasons.
