Police: Person of interest held in jewelry store slaying
AUSTIN, Ind. (AP) - State Police say they've arrested a person of interest in the robbery and slaying of a southern Indiana jewelry store owner.
Police said in a Tuesday afternoon statement that no other information was immediately available, but the individual was in custody in connection with the Saturday robbery and slaying of 79-year-old John Turner.
The Austin man suffered a gunshot wound to the head in John's Coin and Jewelry Shop in Austin, about 30 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.
State Police say the person in interest was taken into custody after authorities served a search warrant Monday at a home near Austin.
Police said officers found property, money, jewelry and other items allegedly associated with Turner's killing at that site and arrested four people on a variety of charges.
