Police: Juvenile stabs 19-year-old during fight in Woodstock
A 19-year-old is stable but remains hospitalized after being stabbed during a fight in Woodstock Friday afternoon, police said Saturday.
Detectives have interviewed the juvenile who stabbed the teen and believe he was acting in self-defense, police said. They also have interviewed and released several witnesses cooperating in the investigation, police said.
So far, no one has been charged, police said Saturday.
A 911 caller requested an ambulance around 3:45 p.m. Friday at a home on the 200 block of South Madison Street, where the 19-year-old was found stabbed in the groin, police said. He was taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The fight was retaliation for an earlier altercation among teens in a church parking lot at Hayward and Calhoun streets, police said, but those juveniles were not directly involved in the stabbing.
Police said the teens involved in both fights are all high school students in Woodstock Community Unit District 200.
