2 dead, including toddler, in northern Illinois house fire

ROSCOE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a father and his toddler son are dead and three other family members were injured in a house fire in the northern Illinois village of Roscoe.

The Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department says the fire broke out about midnight Friday and the two victims were found in a first-floor bedroom. The Winnebago County Coroner's office identified the dead as 2-year-old Orin Bekielewski (behk-ee-LOO'-skee) and his father, Alan Bekielewski. Autopsies are pending.

Three others were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.

The fire burned a large hole in the severely damaged charred home's roof. The Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Roscoe is near the Illinois board with Wisconsin, about 20 miles north of Rockford.
