Authorities: Man dies after shooting self, wife near Atlanta

ACWORTH, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man who shot himself after shooting and wounding his wife at the couple's home in suburban Atlanta has died.

Acworth Police told The Marietta Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1Hymhsh ) that 47-year-old James Scott Bland died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his wife survived and remains in intensive care at hospital Friday evening.

Jail records show that Bland was arrested three days before the shooting on accusations of violating a temporary protective order. The warrant says Bland activated an app on the phones his wife and two children use that would allow him to track them.

The warrant says Bland was arrested Monday after messages appeared on their phones alerting them that Bland was tracking them. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
