Ogle County soldiers memorial to be dedicated in Oregon

OREGON, Ill. (AP) - A retired Army brigadier general who commanded forces in Afghanistan and Iraq will be the keynote speaker at next week's dedication of the Ogle County Fallen Soldiers Memorial.

Steve Huber of Byron in north-central Illinois was deputy commanding general of 1st Army Division East and commanding general of the Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan. Among other roles, he also served as deputy chief of staff for the Multinational Division-Central South in Iraq.

The (Dixon) Telegraph reports (http://bit.ly/1WurbCI ) that the Nov. 11 ceremony will take place on the north side of the Ogle County Courthouse in the Rock River city of Oregon.

The memorial depicting a soldier kneeling before the grave of a comrade was designed by sculptor Jeff Adams, owner of the inBronze foundry in Mount Morris.
